A few warm days recently means its time to get our kit on and inspect the hives to see how they had overwintered. Really pleased to find all Queens laying in a good tight pattern and with enough stores (food) to ensure they don’t starve. As the Queen lays more and more eggs there has to be enough stores for all the new brood so we may have to feed them some fondant. Bright yellow pollen has been seen coming into all the hives which we believe is from Forsythia, Almond, Primrose and Marsh Marigold all found here in the grounds. Pollen is the bees protein.
