The warmest wettest December on record has seen unseasonable early flowering of our daffodils, birds are nesting in the trees and our honey bees are still flying and foraging therefore not clustering for the winter. For the bees this means checking regularly that they have enough food we add fondant to the top hive frames – they love it, but this also ensures they don’t starve during this challenging weather.
The big question is ‘will winter arrive with vengeance in the next few months ? In the interim enjoy this very early little daffodil that sprang into life by the top lake.
